The sun will be guiding you – News from Tales of Fantasy, Magika and more! :)

Heya peeps!

God, three more weeks and I finally will be on summer vacations. I really need a break. Currently I spend my ‘weekend’ correcting ~ 85 exams, so exciting. Ugh. Oh well, I am not gonna complain, I love my job, but sometimes I regret teaching three languages.

I had this outfit stores for some days now, already posted the first pictures on Flickr on Thursday but didn’t manage to blog it yet, but here we go now! :) Lets have a look!

The hair!

The hair on the picture below (and on the last one) is a new style by Sabina Gully for Magika. I pretty much instantly fell in love with it. I bought the secondary package with the unnatural tones in it and the price for 250L is insanely generous. I mean, in-sane-ly generous, because you get 30 tones with each package. The hairs are HUD driven. I do wish Sabina would offer various sizes for her hairs for all styles and not just for longer ones, but so far, I have always been lucky and they fit my avatar perfectly. I LOVE her textures and the incredible soft look of her styles. Imho, Magika has some of the mostd etailed styles around, with small, smooth strands and very pretty highlights, too. I sometimes heard people complaining that they supposedly lag with the hair, but I have never personally made that experience. Definitely a must have! :)

The top is actually a so called chain tunic and is a new item by The Forge (Deccan Arida). I was mighty amused when I unpacked it after he sent it out and I anticipated to see a chainmail tunic…and then it was this! I still like it a LOT though even though I think Deccan totally needs to size down his boobs on his female model! The chain tunic comes in rigged mesh and in sizes for normal boobs and implants (and those seem to be GIANT ones!). I decided to display the tunic with my comparably small 8yet still big) Lolas and I must say, I really like this item. The texture is pretty and if worn without the implants, this can be easily combined with other meshparts and tops to add some nice detail to new outfits or can be worn as a necklace. A really neat idea! The item is currently available at Tales of Fantasy as part of a gacha.

The pauldrons and the eyemask!

Both the eyemask and the pauldrons are part of a gacha at Tales of Fantasy by FDD, a store by Seller Xenno. The store has been around since a while now but it seems they relatively recently ventured into making their own mesh, too. I am definitely a fan of their goldtones and overall textures and I personally think that these pieces, especially though the eyemask, are really worth a couple of tries at the gacha machine. They are common items, which means you can get them fairly easily. Very creative and pretty items! :)

One is the loneliest number – News from Collabor88, Tales of Fantasy, Tableau Vivant and more!

Hiya peeps!

Collabor88 opened its doors and there is quiiiite a few neat items to be had. Tales of Fantasy is open now as well and there is a LOT of cute stuff to be had. :) This blog will show you some cute hairs as well as two other items from there. :)
Lets have a look!

The headpiece!

Aymee Monk of Keystone really, really has come a long way by now. This head accessory is called Corva and is a new release for WE LOVE RP and currently available at 25% discount. :) The package costs only 180 Lindens and contains EIGHT different texture versions of which I like the golden and copper ones best. Aymee really has a knack for pretty tiaras, crowns and the likes. Also, I do like her metal textures a lot, the constant improvement of her skills is very visible.  This so far is one of my favourite items by her because it offers so much variety and really has a pretty, unique shape. There is certainly a ton of these things out there by now but one can still spot a Keystone rigth away. I only hope she will soon make more items that maybe have some gemstones or pearls implemented, too. :)

The hair!

The hair on the picture above is a new release by Tableau Vivant (M4ri1yn Magic) for Collabor88. It’s a very unique style. There are a lot of pigtails for sure, but most are either braids or poofy ones. I cannot recall any up to date mesh hairs that have a similar style but I may be mistaken. It comes in three sizes: Normal, a version for boobs and a version for larger heads. As per usual, the meshwork is really smooth and the style is super cute. However, do wish the normal version (which I am wearing) would fit better for smaller boobs. I think to fill out the curve of this hair I’d have to increase my boobies by 30% at least. It looks a bit as if it floats this way, but honestly, I still like it,e specially because it is so unique. :)

The skirt!

The skirt my avi is wearing in these pictures is a new item provided by Tee*fy by Azure Electricteeth for Collabor88! I LOVE it, because I have been searching my bum off for anything that resembles a high-low-skirt.  I love to see legs, yet I cannot see anyone wearing a miniskirt in medieval times, and fighting in a long skirt just seems..uncomfortable at best. These kinds of skirts let your legs move freely without looking too modern! The skirt has just the right length and the the right height on the hips. However, I do wish that the edge on the hips would be a little smoother/tighter. For some reason, even a size XS (and Mari usually wears M/S) still doesn’t cling very neatly to the body, but that can be hidden easily with a belt! Compliments for the alphalayer, too! It is one of the few skirt sof this kind that have a good alphalayer. Most alphas blow but in this case, it seemed to fit perfectly well. Also a fan of the textures and colours this skirt comes in! :) Definitely a must have for my wardrobe.

Hi guys,

we are proud to present our first previews for our shopping guide for the upcoming round of WE LOVE RP! The parcel is currently closed for set up but here you can get a sneak peek of all the awesomeness. Keep in mind a good 2/3 are still missing and will be constantly updated. :)

When I met you in the summer – News from Tableau Vivant, Mina and some thoughts on blogging!

Hi peeps,

the Arcade is starting soon and god, there are gonna be sooooo many cute items again. :) June is also a month of another round of The Fantasy Collective, a new event called Tales of Fantasy, The Secret Affair and of course WE LOVE RP. We got quite a few new designers in this round and I am reaaaaally looking forward to it. :) However, this post is NOT goign to contain JUST fashion. But lets see. :)

The hairs!

The first hair is soon available at June’s round of The Arcade. :) It is offered by Tableau Vivant (M4ri1lyn Magic) and is called Longfall. And that name is fitting: It is suuuuper long and wavy. :) Perfect mermaid hair imho and perfect for all kinds of fantasy characters in general. It’s soft and nicely shaded. I did notice that it bares a LOT of the forehead, so if you got a high one, it might look a bit too bald on you. Still, Tableau Vivant has really, really provided a very unique style here. I have seldomly seen hair this long done so well. Of course, a boobie version is included. :) And,, the best part is? Each colour comes with an invidiually designed, super pretty hairpiece. I hopefully willl get around to showcase that one soon, too! :)

The second hair (second pic) I am wearing is Astrid by Mina Nakamura for her store Mina, available at the most recent round of The Attic. And…it is soooo cool. It is a 50s inspired style (I think…ahem) and comes both with and without materials and includes a boobie version. I am showing the non-materials version because for some reason my lightning was being especially screwy today and looked weird on the materials. I think I need to update FS again. I LOVE this style. It is surely not an every day style but it is elegant and unusual. There have been quite a few of these styles lately but this is one of my personal favs, tit is just extra-big. :D Love the fact that it is asymmetrical too! But, I would ahve loved a hairbase for this one. :)

Thoughts on Blogging!

I quite often get asked this. “I want to start blogging, but I don’t know. What should I do?” Or: “How can I improve my blog?”

I wrote up a little list of things that I, both as a blogger and as an eventmanager always consider to be pillars of good blogging. Now before you scream “How dare she? Who does she think she is?!” This is a personal list that -I- consider important and isn’t necessarily a universal perspective on blogging.

1. NEVER beg or demand review copies! It reflects VERY badly upon you and your blog. Be patient, blog continuously and once your blog is old enough (~ 6 months), apply whenever a store/event accepts bloggers. If people like you, they will approach/invite you. Applying for events/stores which you never blogged before is a bad idea.

2. Find your niche! Be unqiue, offer something the 10000 other bloggers don’t already. Don’t just open the 50th blog of the same kind. Research what is missing and try to fill in that blank. This is super, super important. No event has any use for 100000 bloggers with the exact same kind of style.

3. Have a good layout and good pictures! A good, easy to navigate website is important. If everything is cluttered and all over the place, it is very distracting and annoying. Large, crisp pictures are a must in my book. Don’t pick a theme that downsizes your pics to tiny thumbnails.

4. Only blog what you like! I don’t see the point of blogging what you DON’T like. If you like an item, but spot a major mistake with it that needs fixing, tell the designer before you blog it so they have a chance to fix it. If it’s a thing like…a missing hairbase or maybe you think the textures could be smoother? I think that’s fair game to say. Bashing items is shitty.

5. Never blog only for freebies! This is a thing that I personally find very important. I think you can SEE when people just blog whatever is tossed their way. Few people can conceal their lack of passion for a certain outfit. Blogging to get free shit will usually result not so awesome outfits.

6. Be honest! If you review, don’t fawn all over an item when it has visible downsides. People will value you for honesty, not for endless asskissing. Any designer with guts will also value your opinion, IF you a) word it politely and b) can back it up.

7. Get connected! Link to other blogs you like, link to Flickr (important!), Facebook, Plurk, Google Plus, whatever floats your boat. Use the social medias to get your blog out there. :) Get on the feeds!!!

8. Always improve! Chances are, there are 200 bloggers out there who are much better than you. Watch tutorials, try to get the gists of basic photoshop editing. You can add a lot of flair to a pic by just doing little things. A few neat tutorials can be found on Stawberry Singh’s blog. It took myself a long time until I finally dared to try it out, but…it works! :) Learn how to tweak WL settings in SL to fit your image. If you look at my pics from a year ago and now? I learned a lot I think and there is STILL room for so much improvement.

9. Do not over-accessorize! It’s something that I did in the past for sure. If your outfit looks as if you right-clicked on the latest gacha-event folder and then clicked ‘wear’? Not good. Designers want their items to be represented and if you wear 100 of them?…little of each one will be seen. Find a balance. Even I have a hard time with this one sometimes. :D

10. EFFORT! Your blog should show that you put effort into it. Pictures, layout…everything sums up to effort and how much time you are willing to spend to advertise products. If little effort is shown and every post looks as if it was done in 15 Minutes? Why should anyone invite you to blog for them? If you couldn’t even be bothered to find a pose that doesn’t make your layered meshclothes glitch all over the place…why would I bother buying it?

11. Credit your items!! I personally don’t do Slurls unless it is an event because too many stores move around all the time. But they are a nice addition for sure. Credits should contain the NAME of the designer, the name of the store, the item’s name and version/colour. If it is an event, link to it! Some people credit the price as well which is really nice.

12. Be picky! Your blog – your reputation. Which stores do you WANT to represent? Don’t accept EVERY offer and EVERY invite. Be picky and think carefully: Do the items fit your style? Do you truly like the items? If you doubt, don’t do it.

13. Not too much porn! This is a personal one. If your blog is full of pixelporn, mewmew and semen dripping from your giant pixelboobs, chances are you’ll get kicked from every feed and Flickr will not show your pictures instantly (maturity filter) which means a lot less exposure for the designers you blog for. The least thing you can do is push the porn pics into a different category, so they won’t land in the feeds and get you kicked.

I am sure there is more, but these are MY personal basics that I tell people usually. I hope it helped and don’t mind my rough wording. I am passionate about a couple of things in here. <3

Never be afraid again! – News from Lassitude & Ennui, Little Bones, Alchemy and more! :)

Hiya peeps,

finally a new blog! I have been testing out some new PS techniques, thank you so much to all those people who constantly help me. :) No big bla bla, lets move on to the outfit! :)

The hair!

Little Bones is a store which is relatively new on the horizon. Not TOO new, but somewhat new. The storeowner is Nova Faerye and I have been keeping my eyes on this store since a while now. The constant improvement has really been showing, though I think some small things still could be improved! But, I have LOTS of positive things to say about this style which I picked up at Kustom9. First of all, the hair is HUD-driven (rumors are some hairmakers still clutter your inventory!!!) and the style is really soft and smooth. Her mesh has improved constantly as well. The textures are really pretty imho, though I wish the top of the head was just a little less dark. I really, really love the thin strands this hair has. :) The package I got was 249L and contains 10 different tones. Imho, this really is one damn good deal. Another little thing that bothered me (but not enough to not wear this hair all the time) are the alphabarts aroudn the strands which seem large and glitch a lot in forests. I am NOT sure if these can be avoided though so it is really just a tiny complaint.

The dress!

This is the new dress by Lassitude & Ennui (Jackal Ennui) for the World Goth Fair which just recently started. It is…pink. And I love it. This version is called orchid and I just loved the combination of pink and green, it went so well with my roses and…all the rest! :D The texture is soooo soft and I love the inscriptions on the top layer. The mystic dress is only 290L per dress and this color is the one that is a 100% donation for the Sophie Lancaster Foundation. As always, Lassitude & Ennui provides us with original mesh items which are just plainly awesome. :) Don’t forget to check this out!

Kept awake dreaming someone else’s dream – News from Mandala, LeLutka, Melodic and more! :)

Hiya peeps! :)

So, it appears the designergods have been kind and have been whispering into designer-ears that there is an endless amount of elves desperately hoping for new ears. After the marvellous ears released by The Skinnery, which are unfortunately too short for me, Mandala came out with new ones which are just gorgeous. :) But lets see!

The ears!

O-M-G!!! So, Kikunosuke Eel of Mandala released new ears, elven ears even! And they come with a SHITLOAD of options. You can decide between four sets: Simple ones, two urban styles and a fantasy style. The fantasy style comes with a giant HUD, where you can choose the various skincolours, the colours for the beads, the colour for the eartips and the colour for pretty feathers which are hidden in my hair. The best part is: You can also decide to just hide ALL of those and go with simple ears. :) The texture on these is plainly awesome and the presets for the skintones make it really easy to fit them to the various tones of different skins. I really LOVE the idea of the tinted eartips. :D Very, very pretty design. You can resize them as well through a resizer script. Mine are smaller than the default size. They also come in a long and a short version of which I am displaying the latter. The only thing that bothers me a little is that Mandala went for the Yoda-style as I call it: Instead of having the tips go up and close to the head, they stick out. But I don’t think it looks bad and it’s far from being as bad as some ears out there. Really, really nicely done. However, 777 Lindens is a high price and either I am blind, or there is no demo. WHich obviously did not prevent me from buying them!Blog298PS_2

The hair!

I have always been a fan of Thora Charron’s hair for LeLutka. Yesterday I visited randomly, spotted Thora and YAY! New hair! She released three styles of which this one is my fav. I LOVE how sleek it looks. LeLutka often designs hair which fits VERY snugly to the headshape, which means you’ll likely have to wear the alpha. While that is a bit of a letdown, I think it’s also nice because it makes it so much easier to fit for example hats, headpieces and such. LeLutka’s textures are, among Truth, Exile and Liquence, my fav ones. They don’t look dry and very silky and I really like her tones, too. :) I also enjyo that she offers versions for people with larger boobies. :) This one for sure was an instant buy for me. I also like the fact that they are so very straightly cut. Well invested money in my book! :P

The dress!

Aymee Monk of Keystone sent me this dress two days ago which she released for her subbrand Melodic, which she created in order to sell clothing. While it is a template, I enjoy the texture she chose for this one and the style itself. I am showing the plain version, yet there is also one available that had golden ‘ropes’ winding around the stomach area, which is a very nice detail. The dress comes in various tasteful colours, of which teal, dark red and black are my total favs! :) I think the shape of the dress combined with the texture makes for a really elegant look that might very well work for non-rpers, too!

I hear you calling me back home. – New Releases! :)

Heya peeps!

Today I went to the sim of the Avaricious GE gorean group and took my pictures there. I almost went mad because once I was done, I suddenly realize my brad had not rezzed and had to redo it all. UGH. And when I did that, Ghosts came in to raid and the sim got extremely laggy, nothing rezzed anymore + a ton of running grey blobs shooting wildly. Not pretty/picture ready. So I waited and came back later again and now it worked. :) Phew, I thought I’d have to wait foreeeever.

The Hair!

Truh finally (!!!) released his Fameshed hair. I honestly had not even counted on it anymore, but was wondering why there were five releases and only four at his store. Well, newb me had to look up his Flickr to find out, cough cough. ;) It is one of the few instant buys there for me, because it was cheaper than at his mainstore. This hair is just as awesome as the other two I already blogged, a soft braid and well, I truly am in love with his new colours/textures. It looks really soft and I especially love, just like with the Genesis hair, the braid across the forehead. I do wish though that Truth would release hair that fits to larger boobies as well.

The Bow!

Larion Rhode of LR Weapons sent me this bow. It is a new meshrelease and I have noticed that lately, Larion and Allia seem to go for artsy looking creations: Strong curves and generally an artful looking design, less plain that any realistic bow would really demand. I think bows such as this one (and the previous release, Black Swan, that I blogged on various pictures, really are awesome for chicks and fantasy role-players in particular. I love bows that look pretty and still ‘make sense’ in some way. The only things I would hope for for the future are these two:

I hope the textures at some point will be brighter. There is a lot of detail to these bows that basically get lost unless you look really close, which imho, is part due to the very dark textures. I would LOVE to see some brighter one with details such as carvings in the woods, maybe symbols.

Also, but that is something that ALL weapon creators seem to miss, I would probably kiss any creators feet that would make a bow which’s quiver has more than 5 arrows in it and has a belt that keeps both, bow and quiver, somehow realistically attached to my back. I always try to wear soem sort of slingbelt to make it look more realistic, I think it could be done, no? The floating bow is a bit odd, imho.

I will not get into the techy details here, that is PewPew’s forte, not mine. :P

The bracers!

Then there is another new release by The Forge. Deccan apparently is working day and night now, unless he is busy having …nevermind. Ahem. These bracers are insanely detailed imho, easy to resize and fit your arm and…they go with the armorpart of the Daerwen Outfit! So you can mix and match to your liking and create new looks with these. I am only displaying the oen for the lower arms, but there are also those for the upper arms plus your lower legs included. :)

So here is my today’s outfit:

Hair Fair 2013 – First Impression and a lot of awesome hairs. :) And releases from Truth! :P

Hello peeps! :)

Hair Fairt 2013 started this night and the gods were kind with me and sent an angel impersonated by Voshie Paine, who told me at 3 am (or so) my time that I now had pre-access to the Hair Fair as a blogger despite having forgotten (omg!) to apply as one. Well you can guess what happened. ;D I rushed over and inspected the four sims, enjoying my lag-free journey. Here is your TAXI! :)

My first impression

My eyes were bleeding just a litte, because the whole fair is a giant Legoland. :D Honestly, at first I thought ‘WTF’, but while flying around, I started to like it. It is actually quite adorable, since each vendor is located in one giant legopiece. Kind of a cute idea. :)

My overall impression with the Hair Fair 2013 is pretty good, even though I wish a FEW relatively crappy (sorry) vendors were instead replaced with quality ones. I am not sure how the Hair Fair handles their vendors, is it first come first serve? Or do they actually choose them? I sort of missed Truth, Magika, DeLa and one or two other stores, but I was told by Gogo and others that some have their own, personal reasons for not participating, thus I suppose I cannot blame the eventmanagers. :)

This round, I made it a point to have peek at stores I never paid much attention before. I was still sort of startled to see textures that remind me of 2009 at best at times, though overall, I think the quality provided was neat. A lot of new faces around, too, which made me happy and forced me to stay up until 5.30 am. ;DAlso, GUYS! Lots of hair for you there, too! :)

What irked me…

What irked me a little is the amount of stores participating in the event who usually have nothing to do with hair at all, or haven’t released anything in aaaaaages. There are quite a few notably ones. It does seem a little forced and a bit like a quick money grab to me when a store who doesn’t really even offer hair at their mainstore (unless they launched their hairline at the Fair!) suddenly (and sometimes every year!) comes up with hair. Imho, often (not always) it cannot quite compete with the quality of established designers anyway and I find it odd that they price their items at the same price or even demand more than established designers such as Exile (random example!). ISON made a notable difference there with their hair being only 99 Lindens from what I saw. No matter the praise a lot of them get from their fancrowd, I was often not exactly convinced. A few though offered some nice stuff. :)

I really don’t think creators should feel compelled to participate in every fair out there, wether or not it really fits their store. Dishing out a quick round of hair just to be in seems strange and very forced to me and that often reflects in their work, too.

There were a lot of stores that had some really neat stuff, however, and I won’t call names here, a few stores that were praised to the heavens by their followers, didn’t impress me at all. Odd headshapes, chunky strands and very stiff seeming styles were not to my taste. I suppose not blindly following the crowd something is a wise thing to do.

I really wish both LaViere and Clawtooth would offer actual red tones, and less carrot-like ones. I wanted hair from those stores badly, but….but… no orange! :( Pleaaaase Azure and Bubbles, make some real reds, too? :D :D Overall, it is a LOT more complicated to find nice red (not ginger!) shades than black. Old days were easier!

Random question:

Do you also sometimes have the problem that certain designers’ hair just never fits your head?? I am not sure if MY headshape is odd or theirs. Exile sometimes looks odd on me for example, but usually it fits. Truth always fits, so do Magika, D!va, Wasabi Pills, LeLutka and many more. But many hairs just seem waaaay to square for my head. :(

And a suggestion for all hair designers:PLEASE make your hair modifyable. I really wish to be able to tint my hair. That is how I usually deal with Clawtooth (their blacks are no actual black either and I wore them a lot, simply adding a bit of a blue/grey undertone). I am aware that too much tinting takes away from the texture, but: I would appreciate it anyways if it was left up to me if I want to run around with muted textures or not. I think I am subtle enough with it and I am sad to miss out on many hairstyles that I like, just because their colours are far away from actual red.  PLEAAAASE?

So, here are, in alphabetical order, the hairs I got so far:
Hairfair 2013 1

I think I must have accidentally bought the wrong shades of the Auxiliary hair, haha. Damnit? I found no actual red color in there.  I think the textures are smooth and the hair is very cute. Imho, this is very smooth meshwork, too, so I quickly grabbed it, even though it was 300L, which is more than average. However, you get more than average colors as well! :)

Baiastice is one of those random stores that I personally know for clothing (Do they have hair usually?? I haven’t checked yet!) that came up with hair. And I like it! Smooth, natural seeming textures, nice colours and no chunky, odd strands. :) It fits my head perfectly.  I like it!

Exxess surprised me. Usually I was never much impressed with their hairs, they seem too unnatural (not that this isn’t a bit toopoofy either :P) and the textures a tad too glossy. However, this style convinced me at first sight. They have neat reds imho, not just gingers! It is a very soft style and for some reason, I don’t think the textures are bad at all. I am very glad I checked out their booth! :)

Well, I suppose I do not need to say much about Exile. Their hair, in this case, fits my head perfectly fine, their textures are awesome and I LOVE this style. It is exactly the kind of length I want for my elf, and it falls in soft, natural seemign waves. I liiiike it! :) I also like the reds they offer.

Then there is Iren. I always had the problem that their hair looked like actual wigs on MY head, but good on others. Grumble. So I was reluctant to try first because I thought I might just get frustrated again. But noooo, I did it and I am happy. I only wish it was modifyable because their red tones are not exactly what I like. but oh well, this one is close enough and I LOVE the soft waves combines with the brad. Iren often loks way too big on my head, but this one is really nice. :)

Hairfair 2013 2

Ever since I found Mina Hair again and saw that she makes mesh hairs now and has improved GREATLY on her textures, I am a fan. Her textures are very soft and silky. In this case, I am showing both a tinted (Mina her is modifyable!! :D) version and the original colour I used. I like both, but for my particular character, the non-tinted is a bit too bright. There are four styles to be had, I am showing my two favourite ones. Ido think some of Mina’s hairs are a little big for the average head (mine is sized 52) at times, but in this case, I was lucky. I really like them both.

Redmint is a brand I never especially liked, their hair always seemed chunkly and oddly shaped. Buuuuuut, a friend of mine basically shoved it right in my face and I am glad she did, otherwise I might have not noticed these two styles. While the texture is a TAD glossy for my taste, I really like the red shades they offer and the look of these two styles. The braids really are soft and seem to fall naturally on the back/over the shoulder (see pics below). I am truly impressed with these and like them a lot. :) Great improvement there, I hope they keep up with this good work.

Here the view of the braids from behind:

Hairfair 2013 3

So, I daresay the Hair Fair reached its goal with me and sucked a LOT of Lindens outta my pocket. :D :D Thanks for establishing this event every year.

BUT! Someone was missing. And damn, Truth made his own little hair fair. Ever since Truth released his new textures alongside with a new storebuilding I drool over his hairs. His new releases caused me to run by after looking for him at the Hair Fair for an hour or so. Thanks, Gogo for letting me know he does not participate, LOL! I might have looked for another hour.

So here we go, needless to say I love these. I love the textures, the softness of the styles, the natural fall of strands as well as the shades! These reds are still my fav reds. :) I am so happy that Truth’s hair always fits me so well. Lately, too, his creativity has picked up again and the more recent styles have been really pretty and unique once more. The new textures are just yummy.

That reminds me:

Dear Truth Hawks, please, please, please make more of soft wavy styles like Candy? Please? Please? :)

For the Guys! We <3 ROLE-PLAY Part II

Heya peeps!

Some stuff for the GUYS from WE LOVE ROLE-PLAY! :D

First of all, Nina Helix of Alchemy not only has released an awesome elven skin for the gals, but also for the dudes. I think it pulls off the ELVEN look very, very well. It is sort of pretty and androgyne. Granted, it is not necessarily super-manly, but hey, if you play an elf, that’s not the look you should be going for anyways. I always laugh about supposedly pureblooded elves and drow that have facial hair, shoulders as broad ad Conan#s and…chesthair. No guys, I am sorry, but if you pick a certain race, roll with the racial features or be prepared to be mocked IC (and possibly OOC: :P). This skin is really awesome for elves and rest assured, you can make it look manlier than this, Nina achieved it!

Secondly, Triad Fallen of The Fallen has released an outfit. Finally. I feel like wiping my forehead. The man has been draining on my patience with always teasing me with previews…and never getting around to release it. Even endless skype-sessions (I know how wrong that sounds!) and putting up with funky irish accents (<3<3) didn’t help! But here it is. And it is awesome. ALL pieces come separately, too. I am not displaying all of them, but the outfit comes with a helm, vest, shirt, kilt, pants, boots, bracers. ALL of these can be worn separately, thus Triad deserves big kudos. Mix- and matchable outfits are awesome for us. The only thing I noticed was that the shadows are painted onto the kilt, so the kilt has to be worn with the belt. But really, that is a minor issue for me in this case. Very happy! The whole mesh is very detailed and well done, I can spot NO glitches, which is a rare thing to say for me. The textures are detailed and nicely done as well. Yay!

I am combining The Fallen with boots and armor from The Forge by Deccan Arida, also available at WE LOVE RP  in silver and at his mainstore in three more colours :)! Deccan, after he figured that the Daerwen Armor for girls was a giant success, released a male version as well and it rocks! :) Have a look at those boots and the detail on them and on the pauldron/bracers! LOVE IT!

Collabor 88 and a note on lipsticks/lip-layers

Heya peeps!

So, Collabor 88 started into a new round and THIS time I bought quite a few things there. I was pretty happy with a lot of the items offered and there were THREE pairs of shoes available that fit to your SLINK feet. LOVE them. Yummy released this adorable necklace there and I truly think it is awesome. I am totally abusing Auxiliary’s dress for a role-play outfit, but it does fit, don’t you think?

Thank you, Skye Everidge, for reminding me of Paperbag’s existence. I needed a cardigan or something to cover my arms, and this fur bolero is just perfect. It is a template, but it has a lovely textur eimho and thus it is well worth its 100 Lindens.

Liquence is a new store for hair by Villena Swansen and I think the styles she has released are really well made and lovely. I only wish that this hair was a little less chunky around the tips of the strands. I’ve blogged Lassitude&Ennui’s overknee boots several times by now and I still think they are the best out there for role-play, only rivaled by Lightstar’s overknee boots. I am also growing fond of Insufferable Dastard’s mesh-eyes. They are very clear and offer both realistic and some otherworldy colours.

A note on lipstick-/lips-layers:

If you offer your lipsticks on layers, ESPECIALLY if you offer them at unrelated events and completely separate from your own skin, it would be very kind of you to actually make them wearable with other skins but your own. Ot at least MARK your items as not being wearable with other skins and thus being an addon for your own skins. If I wasn’t so lucky with my baseskin, I’d have wasted quite a few Lindens on unwearable lipsticks/lips that were sold at a random event with no hint whatsoever that those are NOT wearable with any other skins but your own.

This is very frustrating in general by the way. Unless you specifically announce on the advertisement that the lips are only wearable with your skins, please have mery with us customers and put the effort into getting RID of that stupid milkbeard/dirty beard that so many lipstick/lip layers provided by skincreators have? I feel slightly duped when paying 400+ Lindens only to find “Oh, these are no lipsticks/liplayers at all! These are lip-addons for their own skins!”

I know many people do not care or wouldn’t notice, but I do not want to look like this when I buy an item specifically sold separately from the skins:

You can clearly see the unpopular milkbeard around the lips. That, dear skincreators, is NOT a liplayer you should sell separately from your skin unless specifically advertised as an addon. As I said, I got lucky this time, but usually, it looks incredibly stupid and is unwearable. It is very frustrating to spend money on layers such as these. Same goes for brows or any other layer: Unless you mark them as an addon for your own skin, please do not sell them as ‘lipsticks’ or separate liplayers. If you DO mark it, all is good! People are aware then. :D

Even from a marketing perspective it is not very wise.

Someone who does not want your skin in the first place, won’t buy it either just to be able to wear the lips. But instead, if those lips were offered as actual layers? You might gain actually a lot of customers who do not care much for your skins as a whole but want your lips! :D

Thank you, Tricky Boucher and Shyla Diggs, for listening to my complaint a while ago and helping me out. Big kudos to you.

EDIT after Gogo’s comment: A LIST of skincreators who’s lips/liplayers you CAN buy with no problems as far as I have tested:

Lips: This layer adds not oly colour, but a completely different lip texture.
Lipstick: Your liptexture stays the same, but the layer adds some colour

Pink Fuel (all lips)
Rozena (all lips/lipsticks)
Izzie’s (lips)
Glance (Lana/Anais lips), though I recommend going a shade darker here!
The Sugar Garden (lipsticks/-gloss)

Illusory (Paige lips)
Tuli (Zoe lips)
